The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) each won one seat in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly constituencies in Bagh district where repolling was held on Saturday, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results received by Aaj News.

PPP candidate Sardar Ziaul Qamar won LA-15 (Bagh Central), securing 17,118 votes against PML-N’s Mushtaq Ahmed Minhas, who received 15,227 votes.

Qamar led Minhas by 1,891 votes, according to the vote counts provided in the unofficial results.

In LA-16 (Eastern Bagh), PML-N candidate Sardar Mir Akbar Khan emerged victorious with 20,796 votes. PPP’s Sardar Qamar Zaman secured 16,962 votes, giving Mir Akbar a lead of 3,834 votes.

Repolling held at 23 stations

Repolling was conducted at nine polling stations in LA-15 and 14 stations in LA-16.

Polling had been postponed on August 10 after polling staff could not reach the stations because of bad weather. The Election Commission subsequently scheduled repolling at the affected stations.

Polling began at 8am and continued until 5pm without a break.

Before the repolling, PPP’s Ziaul Qamar was leading in LA-15 with 16,637 votes against PML-N’s Mushtaq Minhas, who had secured 15,015 votes from the polling stations where voting had taken place earlier.

The result of LA-15 had been withheld because voting could not take place at nine stations.

In LA-16, PML-N’s Mir Akbar was leading with 19,515 votes before the repolling. Voting had not taken place at 14 stations in the constituency, where 7,238 voters were registered.

The final results are subject to confirmation by the AJK Election Commission.
