At least seven people were killed and three others injured in an Israeli air strike on a house in southern Lebanon early Saturday, Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported.

Israeli warplanes struck a house on the outskirts of Ansar in the Nabatieh district, toward the nearby town of Zrariyeh, destroying the building, according to NNA.

Emergency and rescue teams were deployed to the site to search through the rubble, recover the bodies and rescue the injured.

The casualties were taken to hospitals in Nabatieh for treatment.

NNA described the attack as the deepest Israeli air strike inside Lebanon since a ceasefire took effect two months ago.

Separately, Israeli warplanes carried out several air strikes targeting Ali Al Taher hill on the outskirts of Nabatieh Al Fawqa, the agency reported.

The latest strikes came despite a framework agreement signed between Beirut and Tel Aviv on June 26 under US sponsorship.

The agreement calls for a gradual Israeli withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territory in return for the deployment of the Lebanese army in those areas and the disarmament of armed groups, including Hezbollah.

However, Israel has continued military operations in Lebanon.

The assault, which began on March 2, has killed 4,335 people and injured 12,277 others, according to the figures cited in the report.

Israel continues to occupy parts of southern Lebanon, some of which it has held for decades and others captured during the 2023-24 war.

During the latest assault, Israeli forces advanced more than 10 kilometres into Lebanese territory.
