Armed forces congratulate nation on 79th Independence Day

The heads of Pakistan’s armed forces have extended heartfelt felicitations to the nation on the country’s 79th Independence Day, paying tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founding fathers and all those whose sacrifices made Pakistan’s independence possible.

In a message issued on the occasion, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, conveyed their greetings on behalf of the Armed Forces of Pakistan.

The armed forces paid profound tribute to Quaid-e-Azam and the founding fathers, saying their vision, courage and resolve continued to guide the nation and inspire adherence to the principles and ideals of Pakistan.

They also acknowledged the supreme sacrifices of the country’s martyrs, the services of veterans, the dedication of law enforcement personnel and the contributions of every Pakistani who has served the nation.

“Their courage and selfless service have bolstered Pakistan’s resilience and safeguarded its independence, security and national interests,” the statement said.

As guardians of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the armed forces reaffirmed their resolve to defend the country against all threats, uphold the Constitution and discharge the responsibility entrusted to them by the people.

The military leadership said the armed forces, together with the nation, would remain steadfast in preserving peace and stability while creating an environment conducive to national progress and prosperity.

The statement said Pakistan’s strength lay in the unity and collective resolve of its people.

On Independence Day, the armed forces called for renewed commitment to the principles of faith, unity and discipline, while stressing the need to strengthen national cohesion, promote tolerance and work together for a secure, stable and prosperous Pakistan.
