Police in Rawalpindi have concluded their investigation into the death of 28-year-old biker Komal Jan, who fell into the Swan River near DHA Phase I, declaring the incident an accident.
The investigation team reviewed available evidence, initial statements from witnesses and other information before concluding that Komal fell into the river while recording a TikTok video and drowned.
Komal had gone missing after falling from a bridge over the Swan River near DHA Phase I in Rawalpindi.
According to police, she was employed at the Election Commission of Pakistan and also created social media content while riding a motorcycle.
Police sources said a woman called emergency helpline 15 and reported that a woman had fallen into the river. Rescue teams reached the area and launched a search operation.
After several hours, rescuers recovered Komal’s body from the Swan River at a location around three kilometres from the private housing society.
Her motorcycle, handbag and helmet were also found near the river. Police identified her through an identity card recovered from the handbag.
The investigation team found that Komal had two mobile phones.
One was in her handbag, which was found on the motorcycle, while the other was being used to record the TikTok video.
Police also investigated whether she had fallen accidentally or had intentionally jumped into the river. Initial statements from eyewitnesses were recorded as part of the inquiry.
After reviewing the evidence, the investigation team concluded that Komal died in an accident and fell into the river while recording the video.
Police said Komal had visited the Election Commission before the incident and had also spoken to her family by phone.
Her body was handed over to her family after the post-mortem examination.
According to police, the family did not express suspicion against any person during the investigation.
Based on the available evidence and the statements recorded, the police investigation team has concluded that Komal’s death was accidental.
