In a significant development, Karachi police have added a murder charge to the case of young businessman Mir Raza following a fresh autopsy report.

The case, initially registered at Ferozabad police station under Section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code on kidnapping charges, has now been amended to include Section 302, which relates to murder.

Police officials said the murder charge was added in light of the exhumation and findings of the fresh post-mortem report.

A new investigation team will now begin a fresh probe into Mir Raza’s death, officials said.

The team will revisit the crime scene and question the victim’s family and other relevant individuals.

Investigators will also review the available evidence as part of the renewed investigation.

The development comes after the exhumation and fresh autopsy findings prompted police to incorporate the murder provision into the FIR.
