President Donald Trump dismissed reports that the US is facing shortages of key military munitions, insisting the country has ample stockpiles and warning that those responsible for leaking such claims will face prosecution.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the US had “massive amounts” of munitions, particularly of certain types, and that additional supplies were being produced and delivered as needed.

He added that defence contractors were expanding production capacity, claiming they were building the largest number of plants and factories in the country’s history.

Rejecting reports of dwindling stockpiles, Trump accused those behind the leaks of undermining national security.

“The ‘leakers’ of these treasonous statements are being hunted down,” he wrote, adding that authorities would seek “long-term jail sentences” for those responsible.

Trump’s remarks came after several US media outlets reported that concerns over depleted interceptor missile stockpiles had influenced his administration’s decision to refrain from launching additional military strikes on Iran.

The Washington Post reported that Trump questioned Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth during a cabinet meeting at Camp David last week over alleged shortages of munitions that had limited US military options against Iran.

The White House and the Pentagon have rejected the report, denying that ammunition shortages affected the administration’s military planning.
