Seven people, including police officers, were martyred in a suicide blast in Tehsil Kabal of Pakistan’s Swat district, while 18 others were injured, police said.

The dead and injured were shifted to different hospitals.

District Police Officer (DPO) Swat Mohammad Umar Gandapur confirmed the casualties and said the explosion occurred near the gate of the Kabal police station.

He said the suicide bomber was attempting to enter the police station when the blast took place.

DIG Malakand Syed Fida Hussain said local youths were also protesting at the time of the explosion.

DPO Mohammad Umar said a human head had been recovered from the blast site and could belong to the suspected suicide bomber.
