At least four passengers were killed and five others injured in two separate gun attacks on passenger coaches in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Wednesday, police said.

The latest attack occurred in the Khad Kocha area, where unidentified armed men opened fire on a private passenger coach travelling from Quetta to Karachi. The coach had departed from Quetta’s Jabal Noor terminal at around 1:00 p.m.

Police said three passengers were killed on the spot, while three others sustained injuries.

The victims were shifted to Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Memorial Hospital in Mastung, and arrangements were being made to transfer the bodies and injured passengers to Quetta.

Earlier in the day, another private passenger coach travelling from Quetta to Turbat came under gunfire at the same location.

Police said one passenger was killed and two others were injured in that attack.

Following both incidents, police, rescue teams and other law enforcement personnel rushed to the area, cordoned off the crime scenes and launched an investigation.

Police said a search operation was underway to trace the attackers and determine the motive behind the shootings.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks.
