The United States launched a fresh wave of strikes against Iran, US Central Command said on Wednesday, marking a new round of military action against Iranian targets hours after an earlier operation was completed.
“At 6 am ET today, US Central Command forces began launching a wave of strikes against Iran,” CENTCOM said in a post on X.
The strikes were aimed at further degrading military capabilities that Iranian forces have used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, it said.
The announcement came roughly eight hours after the US military said it had completed its previous round of strikes at 10 pm Washington time (0200 GMT).
