Body of child killed in 2005 earthquake recovered after 21 years

The body of a four-year-old child recovered 21 years later on Monday, who died in an earthquake on Oct. 8, 2005, in Balakot on Monday.

Four-year-old Jamal Shafiq had gone missing in the earthquake, his father, Qari Shafiq-ur-Rehman, said.

The body was recovered from a pile of rubble during the construction of a house, according to the report.

Qari Shafiq-ur-Rehman said the child was identified from his clothes and shoes.

The recovery revived memories of the devastating earthquake that struck northern Pakistan on Oct. 8, 2005.
