Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Thursday it had launched missile and drone attacks on four US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, describing the operation as the first phase of its response to Washington’s latest strikes on Iranian territory.

In a statement, the IRGC’s Aerospace Force said it targeted Camp Arifjan and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, as well as Naval Support Activity Bahrain in Juffair and Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain.

The announcement came hours after the United States carried out fresh strikes on several locations in southern Iran, which Tehran said hit civilian infrastructure, killed one person and damaged a bridge in the northern province of Golestan.

The IRGC warned that any further US military action would trigger broader retaliation against American bases across the region.

“The US military should know that if it repeats its acts of aggression, Iran’s responses will expand to include other American military installations,” the statement said.

The force also claimed the latest US strikes were a rushed response to large funeral processions held in Iraq for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying the gatherings had alarmed Washington.

According to the IRGC, the United States was attempting to divert international attention from the funeral processions, but argued that its military actions would instead strengthen opposition to US policies in the region.
