Concerns over a possible shortage of petroleum products have emerged across Punjab, including Lahore, after supply disruptions caused by raids and stock inspections at oil depots.
According to petrol pump sources, teams from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Customs conducted raids and stock verification at several oil depots, affecting the movement of petroleum supplies.
Sources said inspections delayed the dispatch of oil tankers, resulting in several petrol stations in Lahore and other parts of the province not receiving fuel deliveries on Friday.
Petrol pump operators said dozens of filling stations in Lahore have fuel stocks sufficient for only one day.
They added that not a single oil tanker departed from the Mahmood Kot and Ghatti oil depots on Friday. Under normal circumstances, more than 150 oil tankers leave these depots daily to supply fuel stations across the province.
Sources also said many petrol pump owners had ordered smaller-than-usual fuel quantities in anticipation of an expected reduction in petroleum prices.
They warned that if the current situation persists, fuel availability at petrol stations across Lahore and other parts of Punjab could be affected.
