Senior Pakistani security officials have accused India of attempting to create instability in the region, particularly in Pakistan, to divert attention from its internal challenges, according to security sources.

The remarks were made during a briefing by a senior security official to media influencers, where participants were given an overview of India’s domestic situation, Hindutva ideology, Indian-administered Kashmir and what officials described as India’s policies towards Pakistan.

According to security sources, India’s leadership is unwilling to accept ground realities and continues to project itself as a major power despite facing internal political and social challenges.

The briefing alleged that growing intolerance, religious extremism and the influence of Hindutva ideology have weakened India’s secular identity and contributed to divisions within the country.

Security officials also claimed that freedom of expression and press freedom in India are under increasing state control, alleging that the country has become more authoritarian.

The briefing further alleged that Muslims and other minorities in India face discrimination and claimed that the situation in Indian-administered Kashmir remains heavily militarised.

According to the security sources, India uses allegations against Pakistan to divert attention from the Kashmir issue and pursues anti-Pakistan narratives through its political leadership and media.

The officials also alleged that some members of the banned Joint Public Action Committee were advancing what they described as an Indian agenda, adding that Pakistan would continue to defend its stability and national interests.
