One of the world’s largest container ships has docked at Karachi Port, marking a significant milestone for Pakistan’s maritime trade and its integration into global shipping networks.
The MSC Loreto arrived at the SAPTL terminal on Sunday, welcomed by the Karachi Port Trust.
The ultra-large container vessel, built in 2023 and sailing under the Liberian flag, stretches 399.9 metres in length and has a total capacity of 24,346 TEUs — among the highest of any container ship in service. It delivered 3,802 TEUs destined for Karachi.
The vessel, registered under IMO number 9934735, arrived at 07:05 UTC, according to AIS tracking data.
Karachi Port Trust said the call reflected ongoing infrastructure improvements at the port and would strengthen Pakistan’s position in the global maritime network.
