Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that the tragedy of Karbala teaches humanity to stand firmly for truth and righteousness and never hesitate to make sacrifices for noble causes.

Speaking to the media during the central Youm-e-Ashur procession in Karachi on Friday, the chief minister said the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) continue to inspire people to remain steadfast in the face of adversity.

“We should always stand with truth and justice and should not hesitate to make any sacrifice in this regard,” he said.

Murad Ali Shah, who participated in the Ashura procession and reviewed security arrangements, said extensive measures had been taken across Sindh to maintain law and order during Muharram.

He said around 1,300 mourning processions and 1,600 majalis were being held across the province on Youm-e-Ashur, with more than 60,000 police officers and personnel deployed to ensure security.

Responding to a question, the chief minister said there was no specific threat at present, but warned that hostile elements often seek opportunities to disrupt peace.

“Although there is no particular threat, our enemies are always looking for such opportunities, which is why we remain fully vigilant,” he said.

Murad Ali Shah also praised the organisers of the processions for their cooperation with the administration, saying their support had played an important role in ensuring the peaceful observance of Muharram.

He reaffirmed the Sindh government’s commitment to deploying all available resources to ensure the safety of mourners and facilitate religious rituals during Muharram.
