Renowned Pakistani singer and musician Tariq Tafo has died at the age of 58 after suffering a cardiac arrest, his family said on Tuesday.
According to family sources, his health deteriorated suddenly on Sunday, after which he was taken to a private hospital in Lahore. He died during treatment.
Tafo was widely known for his popular Punjabi track Lahore Lahore Ae, which brought him fame in Pakistan and abroad.
He was the son of internationally acclaimed musician Tafo Khan and had been active in the music industry since childhood, working as a singer, composer and musician while also mentoring emerging artists.
He was also the son-in-law of legendary ghazal singer Ghulam Ali and had collaborated with singer Abrar-ul-Haq on several music projects.
Family members said his funeral prayers will be offered on Tuesday at Shahenshah Cemetery in Iqbal Town, Lahore.
Tributes poured in from Pakistan’s music, showbiz and cultural communities, with fans also expressing grief on social media.
Tafo is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters.
