A 20-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead by her brother in an apparent honour killing in a village within the jurisdiction of Mouladad police station, police said on Monday.

The victim was identified as Maryam. According to police, the suspect, Abid Ali, allegedly opened fire on his sister over allegations of “karo-kari”, a term commonly associated with so-called honour-related crimes.

The woman’s body was shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police said the suspect fled the scene after the incident. A search operation has been launched to apprehend him, and further investigations are underway.
