Former prime minister Imran Khan was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) late last night for a follow-up medical examination of his eye condition, officials and party sources said on Monday.

According to a statement from PIMS, the fifth stage of Imran Khan’s eye treatment was completed during the visit.

During his stay, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder was administered a fifth intravitreal injection.

According to a hospital announcement, the former premier’s condition remained stable throughout the procedure and follow-up examination.

Medical reports, including an OCT scan, showed improvement in the condition of his eye, according to the statement.

It added that Imran Khan’s health remained stable during and after the treatment, following which he was shifted back to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi under medical advice.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan confirmed the medical visit, saying the party founder was taken from Adiala Jail to PIMS for the follow-up examination and brought back after receiving the injection.

He said he was informed earlier in the day about the hospital visit and follow-up procedure.

Barrister Gohar also reiterated the party’s demand that the PTI founder be shifted to Shaukat Khanum or Shifa International Hospital for treatment, and that his family be granted access to meet him.

Jail sources said the PTI founder was taken to PIMS under strict security arrangements.

They added that he has previously received four intravitreal injections as part of the ongoing treatment.
