A man allegedly shot dead his wife and four young children before taking his own life in a tragic incident in Quetta’s Wahdat Colony, police said on Monday.
According to police, the incident occurred inside a residence where the suspect opened fire on his family, killing his wife and four children. Initial reports suggested the man died after shooting himself following the attack.
However, police later said the suspect, identified as government employee Muhammad Asif Baloch, was shifted to a private hospital in critical condition after attempting suicide by shooting himself in the head. Authorities have yet to confirm his final condition.
Police said the children who lost their lives were between four and nine years old.
Law enforcement personnel rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident, cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence.
The bodies of the victims were moved to hospital for legal formalities and post-mortem procedures.
According to police, the incident appears to have stemmed from a domestic dispute, though investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances and motive.
Sources said the suspect had recently returned from Umrah with his wife about a month ago.
Police officials said all aspects of the case were being examined and further details would be shared once the investigation is completed.
