Disney has officially announced a new instalment in the Ice Age franchise, marking the return of the long-running animated series after nearly a decade.

The upcoming film, titled Ice Age: Boiling Point, will continue the story of the prehistoric herd, including Manny, Sid and Diego.

While full plot details have not been released, early information suggests the characters will face a more volatile prehistoric world featuring shifting landscapes and lava-filled environments, expanding beyond the series’ traditional icy settings.

The film is scheduled for theatrical release on February 5, 2027.

The original voice cast, including Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Simon Pegg and Queen Latifah, is expected to return.

The franchise has been inactive since Ice Age: Collision Course (2016), making this one of the longest gaps between instalments in the series.

The announcement has renewed interest in the franchise, which remains one of Disney’s established animated properties.
