Fresh revelations have emerged in the case of alleged drug dealer Ambreen alias Guddi Chandio, who was arrested in Hyderabad earlier this week, with investigators uncovering suspected links between the accused and multiple police officials.
According to investigative authorities, the scope of the probe has been expanded after evidence suggested that at least 10 police officers and personnel from Hyderabad were in contact with the suspect.
Officials said the role of those officers is now under scrutiny.
Investigators further revealed that the husband of Ambreen alias Guddi Chandio is a retired deputy superintendent of police (DSP), and inquiries have also been launched into his possible involvement and alleged facilitation of the network.
Authorities said the accused allegedly operated a drug supply network through relatives who distributed narcotics at educational institutions. A close relative of the suspect, reportedly a university student, is believed to have managed parts of the network within academic institutions.
Officials said seven alleged operatives linked to the network have so far been identified within the Hyderabad range, while investigations and screening of additional suspects are continuing.
Investigative sources said evidence is being collected regarding facilitators, protection networks and other aspects of the alleged operation.
Guddi Chandio was arrested during a task force operation in Hyderabad two days ago. According to officials, 3,090 grams of charas and 23.97 grams of heroin were recovered from her possession.
Authorities said six cases had already been registered against the suspect at various police stations and excise narcotics departments in Hyderabad.
