Two women were killed and fourteen others injured, including women and children, when an overloaded truck lost control and overturned near Jahangirabad on the Kachlak Bypass on the outskirts of Quetta.
Police said brake failure combined with excessive speed caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which was carrying a group of nomadic travellers. The truck overturned and also struck a two-door vehicle in the process.
The deceased and injured were transported to Mufti Mahmood Hospital.
Two critically injured women were subsequently referred to the Trauma Centre Quetta for specialist treatment, while those with minor injuries were treated at Kachlak Hospital and discharged.
Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
