Senior Iranian officials on Sunday issued strong warnings to the United States against any further hostile actions toward Iran, cautioning that Washington could face severe consequences both militarily and strategically.
Sardar Shekarchi, senior spokesperson for Iran’s armed forces, said that any repeated “stupidity” by the US to compensate for what he described as America’s “dishonour” in the so-called third imposed war against Iran would provoke “crushing and severe blows.”
He warned that renewed threats or aggression could expose US assets and forces to “new, offensive, surprising and stormy scenarios,” potentially trapping Washington in a “self-made quagmire” caused by what he called the US president’s “adventurous policies,” according to Tasnim News Agency.
Meanwhile, Ali Akbar Velayati, senior adviser and a member of Iran’s Expediency Council, stated that the US is falling into a “strategic trap” set by Israel.
Writing on his X account, Velayati said that President Donald Trump’s recent diplomacy in Beijing and his “empty-handed” return from China highlight a “calculation crisis” in Washington.
Velayati cited Trump’s talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Iran, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Abu Dhabi’s reported anger over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s secret visit to the UAE, and what he described as Pentagon misinformation as evidence that US threats against Iran are both ill-considered and potentially self-defeating.
“In such circumstances, Trump’s threats, inflamed by Tel Aviv’s incitement, amount to entering a strategic trap,” Velayati wrote.
“Falling into this pit carries a heavy price. Soon, Washington will have to search with a lantern for the remnants of its credibility in West Asia.”
The warnings come amid heightened US-Iran tensions, almost three months after a forty-day conflict involving US and Israeli forces, and amid escalating war rhetoric from Washington toward Tehran.
