President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the award of Sitara-e-Shujaat for Liaqat Khan, a citizen who sacrificed his life while preventing a suicide attack and saving numerous lives in Attock.
Liaqat Khan heroically foiled a suicide attack near the Khushhal Garh checkpost in Jand tehsil of Attock.
The suicide bomber detonated explosives after being confronted by Liaqat, resulting in his ultimate sacrifice.
The award for Liaqat Khan was granted on the recommendation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Sitara Shujaat is Pakistan’s second-highest civilian award for bravery.
President Zardari said Liaqat Shaheed’s courage, sense of duty, and selflessness set a shining example for the nation.
“By confronting the suicide bomber, Liaqat Shaheed averted a massive loss of life. His bravery and sacrifice are an inspiration for all Pakistanis,” the president said, paying tribute to the fallen hero.

They have been escorted to Islamabad with full state protocol, accompanied by a detachment of the Elite Force for their protection and convenience.
Meanwhile, Liaqat Khan was laid to rest with full state honours in his native area following funeral prayers.
A well-disciplined contingent of Attock Police presented a salute to the martyr.

Attock Police paid their respects, lauding Liaqat Shaheed’s unmatched patriotism, courage, and selflessness.
