The National Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution paying tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces on the completion of one year of “Marka-e-Haq” and praised the military’s response during Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos.
The resolution was moved by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar during a session chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
The resolution said the House proudly acknowledged the professional capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces and condemned what it described as India’s “false campaign” against Pakistan following the Pahalgam incident despite Islamabad’s offer for transparent investigations.
The House also appreciated the “balanced and swift” response of Pakistan’s armed forces during Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos and paid tribute to every soldier and officer who participated in the operation with courage and professionalism.
The resolution claimed that Pakistan’s J-10C fighter aircraft destroyed valuable Indian military assets and forced the enemy into retreat.
Speaking in the House, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said India had launched attacks under the cover of darkness while Pakistan responded “in broad daylight”. He claimed the world now knew that the Pahalgam incident was a “false flag operation” and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace.
The session began with Fateha for those martyred in terrorist incidents and the Bannu tragedy.
While the treasury benches highlighted the anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, the opposition strongly protested against increases in petroleum, electricity and gas prices. The House echoed with slogans against inflation and rising utility costs.
PPP lawmaker Qadir Patel and MNA Nabeel Gabol criticised the government over gas distribution issues and alleged excesses by K-Electric.
Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai warned that the political situation could worsen if tensions were not reduced.
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman strongly criticised the government and the establishment, questioning celebrations at a time when violence and killings continued in the country.
He also rejected government policies concerning religious seminaries and demanded immediate measures to stop terrorism, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Separately, journalists staged a walkout over dismissals of media employees. In response, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced suspension of government advertisements for the television channel involved in the layoffs.
The House also passed bills related to civil servants, standard time and Lok Virsa amendments before the session was adjourned until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
