Bangladesh post 413 in first innings of Mirpur Test

Bangladesh recovered from a middle-order collapse to post 413 in their first innings against Pakistan in the Mirpur Test on Saturday, thanks to a fighting half-century from Mushfiqur Rahim and a late cameo from Taskin Ahmed.

Resuming at 301 for 4 on the second day, Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das initially added steady runs, but Das fell for 33 to Mohammad Abbas, triggering a collapse that saw Bangladesh lose quick wickets in the middle order.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz (10) and Taijul Islam (17) also fell as Pakistan’s disciplined bowling, led by Abbas, put pressure on the hosts.

Mushfiqur, celebrating his 39th birthday, scored 71 off 179 balls, including eight boundaries, anchoring the innings amid the collapse.

Shaheen Shah Afridi later bowled him out, and Bangladesh slipped to 384 for 9.

Taskin Ahmed provided late impetus, hitting three fours and a six in a quickfire 19 off 19 balls to push the total past 400 before being caught off Afridi. Nahid Rana remained unbeaten on 4.

Mohammad Abbas finished with a five-wicket haul, while Afridi claimed three, including Mushfiqur’s crucial wicket, as Bangladesh wrapped up their innings in the second session.
