Pakistan Navy assisted foreign crew members in a humanitarian operation in the Arabian Sea, security sources said on Monday.

The operation began after the commercial vessel MV Gautam, sailing from Oman to India, developed a technical fault. The Maritime Rescue and Coordination Centre in Mumbai contacted Pakistani authorities, who dispatched the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency ship Kashmir to the scene.

Food, medical support and technical assistance were provided to the seven crew members on board, including six Indians and one Indonesian, the sources said.

Pakistan Navy personnel worked to restore the vessel and ensure the safety of those on board.

The navy remained prepared to respond to emergencies at sea and prioritised the protection of human life, the sources added.
