Renowned Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara has successfully summited Mount Makalu, the world’s fifth-highest peak, marking another major milestone in his climbing career.

According to the Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP), Sajid reached the 8,485-metre (27,838 feet) summit at around 5:00 a.m. on Saturday as part of an international expedition team.

Mount Makalu is located in the Mahalangur Himalayas, about 19 kilometres southeast of Mount Everest, along the Nepal-China border.

The 25-year-old climber has previously scaled nine of the world’s highest peaks. He is the son of legendary mountaineer Ali Sadpara.

The ACP, led by President Major General (retd) Irfan Arshad, congratulated Sajid, calling the achievement a moment of national pride and a testament to his skill, determination and resilience.

Vice President Karrar Haidri also praised the accomplishment and wished him a safe descent.

The expedition team included climbers from the United States, Italy, Spain, Germany, Canada and France.

Sajid said he aims to summit all 14 of the world’s highest peaks and called for government support to help him achieve the goal while raising Pakistan’s flag on the global mountaineering stage.
