Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and European Council President António Costa discussed the evolving situation in the Middle East during a telephone call on Monday, with both sides underscoring the need for continued diplomacy.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz briefed Costa on Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic outreach and efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

Costa appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in encouraging dialogue and de-escalation, and assured the European Union’s support for efforts aimed at sustaining regional stability.

Both leaders agreed that dialogue remains essential to achieving lasting peace and preventing further escalation, and decided to remain in close contact on the issue.
