Iran plans to gradually reopen its airspace in four phases, beginning with transit flights, according to the Tasnim News Agency, which cited the deputy head of the country’s Civil Aviation Organisation.
The report said the reopening will proceed in stages, first allowing overflights through Iranian airspace, followed by the resumption of services from airports in the eastern part of the country.
In the third phase, flights will resume from Tehran’s Mehrabad and Imam Khomeini international airports, before operations are extended to other western airports in the final stage.
Authorities said ticket sales are currently suspended and urged passengers to follow official announcements for updates on airport operations and the resumption of bookings.
The report did not provide a timeline for when the phased reopening will begin.
