Justin Bieber made his long-awaited return to a major stage at Coachella 2026 on Saturday night as one of the headline acts, with his performance dividing opinion while Katy Perry’s reaction from the crowd quickly went viral.
Katy Perry, 41, was seen dancing during Bieber’s set and drew attention after joking about a moment in the show where the singer pulled up YouTube on a laptop.
“Thank God he has Premium,” she said. “I don’t wanna see no ads.”
The comment spread rapidly across social media, with fans praising the quip and calling it one of the most relatable celebrity moments of the festival.
Bieber’s set itself was a stripped-down performance on a bare stage, where he appeared in a hoodie and shorts and sat in front of a laptop for much of the show.
He sang along to YouTube videos of his earlier hits, including Baby and Never Say Never.
He also played childhood clips from his early YouTube days, when he first gained attention as a teenager, and interacted with live comments during the broadcast.
The singer opened the set alone, performing tracks from his 2025 albums Swag and Swag II, and repeatedly asked the audience, “How far back do you go?” as he moved through his catalogue.
The show also featured the viral clip in which he told a photographer, “It’s not clocking to you, I’m standing on business.”
Guest appearances included The Kid Laroi, Wizkid, Tems and Dijon.
Reactions to the performance were mixed, with some viewers calling the format underwhelming, while others described it as a personal and nostalgic tribute to his early career on YouTube.
Bieber’s appearance marked his biggest live performance in four years.
He previously cancelled his Justice world tour in 2022 after being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused facial paralysis.
His return to the Grammy stage in February 2025 and the release of Swag the same year had signalled his comeback.
Saturday night’s Coachella set was seen as a major moment in that return, though it still split opinion among fans and viewers.
