Russian and Iranian presidents discuss US–Iran talks in Islamabad

According to Russian media, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which the two leaders discussed peace talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad, along with the broader security situation in the Middle East.

Russian media reported that the discussion focused on the current regional landscape and the ongoing US–Iran negotiations in Islamabad. The call reflected continued diplomatic engagement between Moscow and Tehran amid rising geopolitical tensions.

During the conversation, Vladimir Putin said that Russia is keen on ending the ongoing tensions in the Middle East and supports a peaceful resolution of disputes, adding that Moscow is also ready to facilitate efforts aimed at de-escalation.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian appreciated Russia’s principled position on reducing tensions in the region. He also expressed special gratitude to President Putin for the Russian humanitarian aid provided to the Iranian people during this difficult time.

The two leaders reiterated their commitment to further expanding bilateral relations between Russia and Iran and strengthening mutual cooperation across various sectors. The Iranian president also congratulated Vladimir Putin and all Orthodox Christians living in Russia on the occasion of Easter.
