The Sindh government decided to close shops and shopping malls in major cities, including Karachi, at 8pm as part of its austerity policy on Friday.

According to an official statement, new working hours have been introduced for markets, hotels, and wedding halls, and the schedule will apply seven days a week.

Under the new policy, several essential services have been exempted from the restrictions.

These include tandoors, dairy shops, bakeries, medical stores, laboratories, clinics, hospitals, and petrol pumps.

The government said hotels and food outlets will be allowed to remain open from 7pm to 11:30pm, while wedding halls and banquet facilities can host events from 8pm to 12am.

It further clarified that home delivery and takeaway services will continue without any restrictions.
