Multan Sultans climbed to the top of the points table in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11 after defeating Rawalpindi Pindiz by seven wickets in the 14th match at Gaddafi Stadium on Monday.
Chasing 183, Multan Sultans rode on impressive half-centuries from Sahibzada Farhan and Josh Philippe to secure a comfortable victory and shatter Pindiz’s hopes of registering their first win of the tournament.
Farhan scored 68, while Philippe added 56 in a strong batting display. Shan Masood remained unbeaten on 27, alongside Austin Turner, who made 26 not out.
Steve Smith was dismissed early for 5. For Rawalindi Pindiz, Mohammad Amir picked up two wickets, while Aamir Khan claimed one.
Earlier, Pindiz posted 182 for 8 after being put in to bat.
Sam Billings led the scoring with an unbeaten 56, while Kamran Ghulam contributed 35. Dane Forster made 24, Mohammad Rizwan scored 19, Daryl Mitchell added 17, and Abdullah Fazal chipped in with 14.
Multan’s bowling was led by Faisal Akram, who took four wickets. Arafat Minhas claimed two, while Peter Siddle and Mohammad Ismail picked up one wicket each.
Faisal Akram was named player of the match for his match-winning performance.
After a rest day on Tuesday, the second phase of the tournament will begin on April 8 at the National Stadium in Karachi.
