Prominent urologist and former director of the Institute of Kidney Diseases Professor Dr Asif Malik was injured in a gun attack in the Hayatabad area of Peshawar on Wednesday.

Police said that Dr Malik sustained four gunshot wounds when unknown assailants opened fire on his vehicle near his home on Town Circular Road.

He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Hayatabad, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Authorities said the suspects fled the scene, and an investigation is underway.

Police teams are collecting evidence from the site and actively searching for the attackers.
