Doctors at Lahore General Hospital successfully removed a metal washer from the stomach of a three-month-old infant, saving his life after his condition deteriorated over several days.
The child, identified as Ali Zain, had been suffering from fever and a persistent cough for nearly 10 days. Despite treatment at a private clinic, his health continued to worsen.
Upon arrival at the hospital, an X-ray revealed the presence of a foreign object in his stomach, which had made his condition critical.
A medical team led by Assistant Professor Dr Hooria Rehman, under the supervision of Professor Dr Muhammad Shahid, carried out a delicate endoscopic procedure to remove the steel washer.
Hospital officials said the operation was performed successfully and the child’s condition has since stabilised.
