The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a countrywide alert for strong winds, thunderstorms, rain, and snowfall in northern areas over the next 12 to 24 hours.
According to the NDMA, a new western weather system is expected to affect most parts of the country, bringing gusty winds and rain.
Snowfall is likely in upper regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Dust storms, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms are also forecast in parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.
Cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, and Bahawalpur are expected to receive rain accompanied by strong winds.
Several districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Swat, Dir, Kohat, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan, are also likely to be impacted.
The NDMA warned that strong winds and lightning could damage weak structures, trees, and power infrastructure. Rain may cause slippery roads and disrupt traffic, while snowfall and potential landslides in mountainous areas could block routes.
Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and take precautionary measures.
