The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Tuesday issued a country-wide alert, forecasting rain and thunderstorms across most districts starting tomorrow.
According to the authority, a westerly wind system is expected to enter the country through southwestern Balochistan and is likely to impact large parts of the country.
According to the NDMA, rain is expected in Islamabad and several cities of Punjab, including Murree, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Lahore, between March 25 and 26.
The intensity of rainfall is expected to increase from March 28 to 30, with chances of hailstorms in some areas, the authority said.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is forecast from tomorrow (Wednesday) through March 30.
The NDMA said that snowfall is expected in hilly areas, while hailstorms may occur in the plain districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Authorities also warned of possible landslides in upper areas and flash flooding in low-lying areas.
Districts including Chitral, Swat, Dir, Kohistan, Mansehra, and Abbottabad are expected to receive rain and snowfall, while the plain areas such as Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Kohat, Kurram, and Waziristan may also experience rainfall.
In Karachi and other districts of Sindh, including Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Dadu, Kashmore, Jacobabad, and Larkana, rain and thunderstorms are expected from tomorrow until March 29.
Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Salman Shah, warned that strong winds and hailstorms could damage weak structures and solar panels.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department also forecast rain in most districts of Balochistan.
Areas including Kharan, Khuzdar, Kech, Panjgur, Awaran, Chagai, Nushki, Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Harnai, Kalat, and Mastung are likely to experience rain with strong winds and thunderstorms, along with possible hail in isolated locations.
