Iran claims US carrier forced to retreat after missile strikes

Iran has claimed that its missile strikes forced the United States aircraft carrier, USS Abraham Lincoln, to retreat from the region, though the assertion has not been independently verified.

According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, Iranian forces launched sea-to-shore missiles in response to what it described as hostile actions by the United States.

A statement issued by Iranian authorities said the strikes compelled the carrier to withdraw from contested waters.

In recent days, videos circulating on social media have appeared to show a carrier vessel engulfed in flames, with some posts identifying it as the USS Gerald R. Ford. However, the authenticity of these videos remains unverified.

The claims come amid escalating tensions in the region following reported large-scale US-Israeli strikes on Iran, which Tehran says caused significant casualties and damage to infrastructure.

Iranian officials say their retaliatory operations have targeted US and Israeli assets using missiles and drones.

There has been no immediate confirmation or denial from US officials regarding Iran’s claim that the carrier was forced to reposition.

With competing narratives and limited independent verification, the situation remains fluid as regional tensions continue to rise.
