Several militants were killed after security forces thwarted a major infiltration attempt by the Afghan Taliban and Fitna Al Khwarij in the border area of Mawaz Kalay in North Waziristan, security sources said on Wednesday.
According to officials, fighters linked to the Afghan Taliban and Fitna Al Khwarij were attempting to enter the area when security forces launched a timely and effective operation.
Several militants were killed in the operation, while many others were forced to flee.
The military also targeted and destroyed several militant compounds and hideouts during the operation, the sources added.
Security officials said the operation was part of the ongoing Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, adding that the operation will continue until its objectives are achieved.
They added that troops remained on high alert in the area to prevent further infiltration attempts and to maintain strict security.
The operation aims not only to eliminate militant threats but also to ensure lasting peace and stability in North Waziristan and safeguard local civilians, according to security sources.
