Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, the speaker of Iranian Parliament, said the ongoing conflict has demonstrated that United States military bases in the Middle East do not provide protection and instead pose a threat to regional security.
In a post on X, Ghalibaf said: “This war proved one thing quite clearly: American bases in our region does not protect anyone — they are a threat. America sacrifices everyone for Israel and does not care about anyone but Israel. Anyone clothed by the US is literally NAKED!”
He urged regional countries to rely on sovereignty and cooperation among themselves instead of depending on external powers for security.
Ghalibaf also accused Washington of prioritising Israel over the interests and security of its other allies in the region.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that two Iranian islands, Kharg Island and Abu Musa Island, were targeted in attacks overnight.
According to Araghchi, the strikes were carried out using short-range rocket systems launched from the territory of a neighbouring country. He claimed the attacks were fired from areas near Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai.
The Iranian minister described the strikes as unacceptable and warned they could further escalate tensions in the region.
Washington maintains that its military presence in the Gulf is aimed at defending allied countries and protecting key maritime routes, including the strategic Strait of Hormuz, through which a large share of global energy supplies passes.
Rising tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel have led to increased military activity across the region, raising concerns over the security of critical trade and energy routes.
