A resolution has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly condemning the government’s decision to increase the price of petroleum products by Rs 55 per litre.

The resolution, tabled by Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Imtiaz Mahmood, states that the Federal Minister and the Ministry of Petroleum had previously said the country maintains a 28-day fuel reserve. Despite this, the Prime Minister of Pakistan decided to impose the emergency increase in petrol prices, according to the resolution.

The resolution warns that the decision will trigger a sharp rise in inflation. It demands that the federal government immediately withdraw the petrol price hike and take urgent measures to provide relief to low-income citizens.
