The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on the occasion of Jumatul Wida — the last Friday of the holy month of Ramazan.

In a statement, Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said a road in Karachi will be named after Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Referring to rallies staged on Jumatul Wida to mark Al Quds Day, he said authorities could not allow a rally on Sharea Faisal on Jumatul Wida and urged all organisations to take out processions on their traditional routes.

Meanwhile, processions will be carried out across the city today to mark Youm-e-Ali.

Nationwide rallies and gatherings will be observed today to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA).

In Karachi, several roads and streets in the Saddar area have been closed by placing containers to facilitate processions.
