The health of veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, father of actor Salman Khan, is improving, and he is recovering steadily after being hospitalised earlier this month, according to reports.
Indian media reported that the 90-year-old was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on February 17 after suffering from high blood pressure and deteriorating health.
Doctors during the initial examination said he had suffered a minor brain haemorrhage and was given immediate medical treatment.
Renowned poet and screenwriter Javed Akhtar recently said during a book launch event in New Delhi that Salim Khan’s condition had improved significantly.
According to him, the veteran writer can now sit in a chair and is also able to talk.
Akhtar said he had visited the hospital to meet his longtime friend.
Several Bollywood personalities also went to the hospital to inquire about his health, including Sanjay Dutt, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Ranveer Singh.
Earlier, Aamir Khan said at an event that he had visited the hospital but could not meet Salim Khan directly.
Family members informed him that the writer’s condition was improving and prayers were being offered for his recovery.
Actress Daisy Shah also said in an interview that she could not meet Salim Khan but had been in contact with Salman Khan and was told that the veteran writer was now out of danger.
When Salim Khan was first admitted, doctors told the media that he had been placed on a ventilator due to severe shock and high blood pressure.
However, Salman Khan and his family later expressed displeasure over the statement being released without their permission and said any updates on his health would be shared only by the family.
Since then, no new details have been released by hospital authorities or doctors, while fans and members of the film industry continue to pray for his full recovery.
Following the improvement in his father’s health, Salman Khan has also resumed shooting for his film Battle of Galwan, which had been paused while he stayed at the hospital with his father.
