Qatar halts LNG supply to Pakistan amid regional conflict

Pakistan will not receive liquefied natural gas (LNG) from QatarEnergy until the regional war situation improves, according to sources in the country’s petroleum division.

Officials said the supply disruption has already affected LNG shipments scheduled for March. Pakistan was expecting eight LNG cargoes from Qatar during the month, but only two shipments have reached the country so far.

Sources said the remaining six cargoes were scheduled to arrive on March 7, 11, 12, 16, 20 and 21, but the deliveries have been disrupted due to the ongoing security situation in the region.

According to petroleum division sources, Qatar has formally informed Pakistan about the temporary suspension of gas supply.

Officials said the shortage will require LNG load management to maintain supplies, with available gas expected to be managed until March 20–21 through distribution adjustments.

The supply shortfall is likely to affect industrial consumption and other energy-dependent sectors, potentially leading to restrictions in gas usage across the country.

Pakistan relies heavily on LNG imports from Qatar to meet domestic energy demand, particularly for power generation and industrial use.
