An American woman has travelled to Pakistan after forming a relationship on TikTok, converting to Islam and adopting a new name after arriving in the southern Punjab town of Kot Addu.

Local residents said the woman, identified as Joy A Knight, developed a friendship with a Pakistani man on the social media platform that gradually turned into a romantic relationship.

The man, Umar Farooq, is a resident of Shehzad Colony in the Chowk Sarwar Shaheed area of Kot Addu.

According to locals, the American woman later travelled to Pakistan to meet him.

During her stay, she embraced Islam at a local religious seminary, reciting the declaration of faith in the presence of a cleric.

After converting, she changed her name to Ghulam Fatima.

Speaking to residents, the woman said she decided to accept Islam after studying the religion and came to Pakistan to pursue her relationship.

She also expressed happiness about being in Pakistan, describing the country as beautiful and hospitable.

Residents in the area said the development highlights how social media connections can cross borders, turning online friendships into real-world relationships.
