The Lahore High Court on Tuesday issued a two-page written order in a petition challenging solar net metering regulations.
The order was issued by Justice Abid Hussain Chattha on a petition filed by Syed Azhar Hussain.
According to the ruling, the Ministry of Energy has directed that billing for consumers continue under the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Regulations 2015.
Distribution companies, including LESCO, have been instructed to bill consumers under the previous NEPRA rules.
The ministry has also directed that relief be provided to consumers who had already obtained approval for solar net metering.
The court order states that consumers who secured approval by February 9, 2026, will continue to receive relief.
Approved applications will remain subject to the old regulations until the enforcement of NEPRA Regulations 2026.
NEPRA’s legal adviser informed the court that the petitioner’s grievance had been addressed and would be resolved upon completion of the process.
The petitioner subsequently requested that no further proceedings be conducted, and the court disposed of the case based on withdrawal.
Earlier, NEPRA announced that revised net metering regulations would apply only to new applicants from February 9, 2026.
Draft amendments to the Solar Policy 2026 have been published under Section 47(3) of the Electricity Act, 1997, and public feedback has been invited within 30 days.
