Security measures tighten in Karachi for Ramadan

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has directed the Sindh Police to prepare a contingency plan with extraordinary security measures to ensure law and order during the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement, the minister instructed police to maintain high alert across all districts and deploy special personnel at mosques, imambargahs, shrines, and open gatherings for Taraweeh prayers.

Additional police mobiles and foot patrols are to be ensured in markets, shopping areas, and other crowded places during Iftar and Sehr hours.

The home minister also called for more effective blockade and snap checking on major highways, internal and external routes, and sensitive locations.

Search and combing operations are to be intensified based on intelligence inputs, and special crackdowns will target street crime, robbery, and theft, while keeping a close watch on suspicious elements.
