Shab-e-Barat is being observed across Pakistan on Tuesday night, with mosques illuminated and special arrangements made for citizens visiting graves at major cemeteries in Karachi.
Security measures have been tightened across the city. SSP South, Mahzor Ali, said additional police personnel have been deployed at cemeteries and for religious gatherings.
Karachi Police Chief Azad Khan has instructed all zonal deputy inspectors general and district senior superintendents of police to ensure foolproof security at mosques, shrines, cemeteries and dargahs.
He also directed that mobile and motorcycle patrols be increased on main highways and streets.
“We are in touch with the organisers of Shab-e-Barat gatherings,” Mahzor Ali said, adding that extensive security measures have been put in place.
