The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab has issued a weather advisory forecasting rain in the upper parts of the province from February 1 to February 3.
According to the advisory, rain and snowfall are expected in Murree, Galiyat and the surrounding areas.
Rainfall is also likely in the Potohar region, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat and Gujranwala, it said.
All relevant departments have been placed on high alert in line with instructions from the Punjab chief minister.
Emergency control rooms will remain operational round the clock, with staff available 24 hours a day, the PDMA said.
PDMA Director-General Irfan Ali Kathia urged tourists visiting Murree to exercise caution and strictly follow safety instructions.
He said the district administration and concerned departments have been put on alert in view of the expected snowfall.
Facilitation centres have been established for tourists at various locations in Murree, the PDMA DG added.
He advised citizens to drive carefully and, in case of any emergency, contact the PDMA helpline 1129.
